Though, just like the city’s history, debuting festival PHILLGOOD offered a mashup of old and new to a Bulgarian crowd more than up to the task. With three stages: the PHILLRAVE for your late-night dance beats, PHILLCOOL for ascending and Bulgarian artists, and PHILLGOOD as the main stage set for the premier acts. Vocalist Ali Abdala put it more simply, being handed the opening slot at the right festival which she said “feels like nothing else.” The sound design was excellent as well even if the packed-to-the-brim crowd proved tiresome. Overall, PHILLGOOD proved a triumph in its first year.
