13 new flats set to be built on popular Taunton shopping street

Conditional prior approval for the development above The Body Shop, Edinburgh Woollen Mill and a vacant bar has been granted by Somerset Council planners.
Taunton Central Holdings proposes building nine one-bedroom apartments on the top two floors of the three-storey 60 High Street building and four above 62-63 High Street.
A submission to the council said it was intended that the scheme would be a “zero-car development”.
Three previous prior approval applications had been thrown out by the council - the most recent in March this year.
It is likely the developers would be expected to provide phosphate mitigation measures as the properties lie within the protected Somerset Levels and Moors Ramsar site.
