A Springfield woman died, and a Lebanon man was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday on Interstate 44 in Lawrence County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, on Interstate 44 about three miles east of Mount Vernon. According to the patrol, a 2017 Jeep Patriot was traveling eastbound when it ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned. The 26-year-old woman driving the Jeep Patriot was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol. A 28-year-old man from Lebanon, who was a passenger in the Jeep Patriot, was wearing a seat belt.
