Visitors in Manila will have the opportunity to try speaking Danish, Finnish and Swedish when the cultural event Speak Dating 2026 takes place in Makati on 19 September. Inspired by the format of speed dating, the event introduces participants to a series of European languages through brief one-on-one sessions with native or fluent speakers. Upon arrival, visitors receive a European Language Passport before choosing which language booths to visit. Participants who collect stamps from at least three language sessions can enter a lucky draw for prizes, including beginner-level language courses offered by several of the organising cultural institutions. Speak Dating is being held in connection with the European Day of Languages, an annual initiative promoting linguistic diversity, language learning and intercultural understanding.
