A Swedish woman wanted by international police has been arrested in Phuket after Thai immigration officers located her on the island following an Interpol Red Notice issued by Swedish authorities.
According to Thai authorities, the arrest followed cooperation between Phuket Immigration, the Royal Thai Police and their counterparts in Sweden.
Police said the woman is wanted under an Interpol Red Notice in connection with alleged large-scale fraud carried out through a call-centre scam targeting victims in Sweden.
Thai immigration authorities said the suspect will first face proceedings under Thai immigration law, if applicable, before being deported to Sweden to face the allegations against her.
A Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant, and the person concerned remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
