— More than 90 percent of New Madrid County voters selected Republican ballots in the Aug. 4 primary election, according to unofficial results released by Interim County Clerk Nathanial Bock.
Republican voters decided two contested county races.
Sanchez, who does not face an opponent in the November election, offered his thanks to New Madrid County voters for their support.
Incumbent Eighth District U.S. State Representative Jason T. Smith also easily defeated challenger Gordon Heslop in New Madrid County.
There were 2,445 no votes to 679 yes votes.
