Côte d’Ivoire’s Football Federation (FIF) on Tuesday announced the appointment of French coach Hervé Renard as the new head coach of the national team, replacing Emerse Faé. In a statement, the federation said the appointment reflects its determination to build on the national team’s achievements in recent years while pursuing its ambitions in African and international competitions. Renard is expected to arrive in Abidjan in the coming days to begin his duties. Renard led Côte d’Ivoire to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations title. The FIF announced on July 31 that it had parted ways with Emerse Faé after deciding not to renew his contract.
