Washington, August 5: Diplomatic tensions between the United States and Brazil are escalating as the US has revoked the visa of Brazil’s Ambassador, Maria Luiza Viotti. Reports indicate that President Donald Trump had nominated Daniel Perez as the next US ambassador to Brazil in early June. A senior official from the US State Department stated that if the dispute is resolved, the visa for the Brazilian ambassador could be reinstated. In recent weeks, Washington has also announced new visa restrictions on Brazilian officials and criticized decisions related to high-profile judicial investigations by Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court. Tensions between the two nations have also increased on the trade front, with the US announcing new tariffs on Brazilian products.
