Neuroscience and physics converged to examine how grid cells construct spatial coordinates, shape human memory retention, and inform Alzheimer’s research.
“More than guiding movements, this system is related to how the brain organizes, stores, and retrieves experiences,” Dr. Moser said.
He noted that human spatial perception operates on a millisecond scale, influenced by environmental shifts and experiential engagement.
“From the perspective of the passage of time, there is no constancy: this perception depends on the intensity of the experience,” Dr. Moser added.
Dr. Gleiser questioned whether findings derived from rodent neural activity could be reliably applied to the human brain.
