People in Wales are being urged to register their decision to become organ donors as NHS Blood and Transplant launches a campaign to boost the number of people on the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Despite strong support for organ donation in principle, consent at the time of death is falling.
Evidence shows that 90% of families support donation going ahead if their relative is on the Organ Donation Register, but this falls to below 50% if they don’t know if their loved one wanted to be a donor.
