Mario Washington takes Emancipation Cycle Road race in New AmsterdamBy Samuel WhyteKaieteur Sports – Flying Ace Cycle Club held a successful Emancipation Cycle Road Race around the town of New Amsterdam. In the end it was national cyclist Mario Washington that took top honours in a duel with fellow National cyclist Andre “Padlock” Green. The riders pedaled off from in front of the Level Up Bar at Charles Place and Republic Road, New Amsterdam, proceed along Republic Road, turn left into Vryheid Street, left into Main Street, proceed along New Amsterdam into Stanleytown, left into Tacama Turn and back into Republic Road. The race began with the Mayor of New Amsterdam Wayne Wright Mc Intosh sending the riders on their way. Speaking to the cyclists before the start of the event, Mayor McIntosh congratulated the FACC for organizing an activity that not only promotes cycling, health and youth development.
