A California man arrested at President Trump's Los Angeles-area golf club after he was seen photographing and monitoring security preparations now faces a federal charge over an unregistered short-barreled rifle, with the president having gone ahead with his fundraiser visit to the property Tuesday evening despite the earlier security scare. Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, was arrested Sunday afternoon at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes after plainclothes federal agents flagged him as a suspicious person to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Deputies said Taele was observed walking throughout the golf course grounds taking photographs and videos while appearing to monitor security-planning activities, and was found carrying binoculars along with a badge reading "security." Deputies also determined Taele was already under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department in connection with a 2025 robbery case. He was expected to appear in court Wednesday on the federal charge.
