34 TMGHSS Kohima students receive free spectacles

Health Department officials with students of TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, after the distribution of free spectacles under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment on August 4.
Kohima, August 4 (MExN): Thirty-four students of TM Government Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS), Kohima, received free spectacles from the Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI).
He said the department has been receiving a positive response from schools towards eye screening programmes for students.
Dr Phyantsuthung said a computerised autorefractor is used to ensure accurate eye screening before free spectacles are provided to eligible beneficiaries.
TMGHSS Principal Kelhikha Kenye thanked the Department of Health and Family Welfare for providing spectacles to students and creating awareness among students and teachers on maintaining good eye health to prevent visual impairment.
