Mexico’s ambassador to the United States, Roberto Lazzeri, will meet this Wednesday with the family of Lorenzo Salgado—a Mexican migrant shot dead by ICE agents during a traffic stop in Houston, Texas—with the meeting scheduled to take place in Texas, where the deceased resided. Salgado, a construction worker who had lived in the United States for over three decades, died on July 7 at age 56 after being shot by immigration agents. The case has generated civil society outrage, alongside the death of Colombian national Joan Sebastián Durán, who died from gunfire by immigration agents in Maine on July 13. ICE agents shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, right here in Houston and then they detained three of the witnesses, attempting to deport them. The very next week, ICE agents killed Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine.
