Luis Arraez has joined the Phillies (Ty Daubert/Phillies Nation)PHILADELPHIA — The freshly acquired Luis Arraez, a three-time batting champion and contact extraordinaire, will bat cleanup in his first game for his new club. Arraez, the Phillies’ second baseman after a trade-deadline swap with the San Francisco Giants, is penciled in to hit fourth in his debut with the team on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park. Mattingly said if it wasn’t Schwarber at the top and Arraez at cleanup, he would have swapped the two. But in this arrangement, the Phillies believe Arraez will be in a position to drive in runs, even if he isn’t a home-run threat. A base hit drives in runs from second base.
