Intense eruption continues at Fuego Volcano, Guatemala

According to the latest special bulletin from INSIVUMEH, the eruption began at approximately 8:30 a.m. and remained underway more than 11 hours later.
These extremely hot, fast-moving mixtures of ash, rock and volcanic gases are the principal danger during the eruption.
Residents near the volcano should remain attentive to official instructions and be prepared to activate evacuation plans if directed.
Guatemala's national emergency number is **119**.Access to Fuego Volcano and the Acatenango - Fuego area has been restricted until further notice.
Visitors, guides and residents must stay away from the crater, volcanic ravines and areas threatened by pyroclastic flows or lahars.
