Public libraries in the Wellington Shire will continue to be run by Wellington Shire Council. The recommendation was made in the Wellington Libraries Service Review, which council endorsed during its meeting on Tuesday night. Wellington Shire mayor Cindy Madeley said Wellington Libraries would remain a welcoming and inclusive service that supported learning, connection and community wellbeing across the municipality. “Libraries are one of council’s most valued community services, and this review has confirmed that retaining an in-house library service is the best outcome for our community, library users and staff,” Cr Madeley said. “We have always recognised libraries as one of our most cherished community services.
