In a strongly worded statement, Jagan questioned the arrest of Alur MLA Virupakshi, alleging that the police raided the legislator's residence at around 2.45 a.m. and arrested him and his son after breaking open the doors.
Jagan further alleged that similar instances of political vendetta were taking place in Srikakulam district, referring to the arrest of former minister Seediri Appalaraju.
The YSRCP chief alleged that opposition leaders and party workers were being booked whenever they questioned the government.
He claimed that the State was witnessing a "police state" where dissent was being suppressed through arrests and criminal cases.
