In practice, there are some sins that are socially acceptable, even in the Church. Many of us can look at the sin of gluttony and think, “That’s not really my struggle.” What was the sin in the Garden of Eden if not a desire for excess? And here’s a strange side effect: The more we drink deeply of the endless love of an infinite God, the more our tastes will be changed. It depends on whether the soul is addicted to a finite excess or an infinite excess.
