Due to a $427 flight during the pre-NFL draft process (which was repaid by Carter once he decided to return to college), the NCAA suspended Carter for two games. On top of a statement released at the time of the suspension, Heupel also went off on the decision during his opening statement ahead of fall camp. Tennessee linebacker Edwin Spillman agrees. Without Carter, Tennessee is going to have to flex its deep linebacker room.
