Island-based nonprofit organizations are once again invited by the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation (MVCF) to apply for program-based funding through the Community and Impact Grants. MVCF, in West Tisbury, was established in 1982 with the intent of granting charitable contributions to local nonprofit organizations that serve the Island. MVCF encourages new nonprofit projects as well as established ones to apply for a grant. Its press release states that the project should benefit the Vineyard community and find solutions for emerging and persisting local issues, such as food and housing insecurity, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and access for people of different abilities. Last year, the program awarded $600,000 to more than 54 Vineyard organizations, which marked a record level of funding in the annual competitive process.
