WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners voted June 8 to annex nearly 491 acres from Jefferson Township into the Village of Jeffersonville, clearing the way for the village to extend municipal services into the area. The annexed territory shares about 8,634 feet of boundary with the village, representing roughly 30% contiguity, the minutes said. Once removed from Jefferson Township, the property will no longer be subject to township taxation and will fall under the services the village has agreed to provide, according to the resolution. Jefferson Township is home to the Honda and LG Energy Solutions battery plant that broke ground near I-71 in Fayette County. The information contained in this story was obtained from the Fayette County Board of Commissioners.
