Six emerging writers took part in this year’s second edition of the Writers’ Critic Platform, held as part of Dance Festival Malta. Organised by Festivals Malta in collaboration with Arts Council Malta, the programme offered participants practical experience in dance criticism through mentorship, discussion and writing. From July 23 to 26, Dance Festival Malta presented a multidisciplinary programme of performances, artist conversations, workshops and masterclasses, bringing together local and international artists and choreographers while celebrating the diversity and richness of global dance cultures. Combining depth and hilarious irony, Stillness in Waiting portrays a celebration of life and human connection that asks the question: is there really stillness in waiting for life to end? This symbolic flamenco dance leaves us asking two fundamental questions: What if dualities do not confront each other?
