Today, August 5, 2026, marks the 57th birthday of Venkatesh Prasad, one of India's most respected right-arm medium-fast bowlers. In Test cricket, he picked up 96 wickets at an average of 35.00, with his best bowling figures being an exceptional 6 wickets for 33 runs. After being hit for a boundary and sledged by Aamir Sohail, Prasad famously clean-bowled Sohail on the very next delivery, a moment often cited as a turning point in India's victory. One of his most famous moments came during the 1996 Cricket World Cup quarter-final against Pakistan. He also coached the India Under-19 team to a runner-up finish in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup.
