Q COSTA RICA — The Ministry of Health called on the population to reinforce preventive measures against the circulation of various respiratory viruses in the country, with the aim of reducing contagion and protecting the most vulnerable. According to epidemiological surveillance, COVID-19 continues to circulate alongside other respiratory illnesses like rhinovirus and influenza, occasionally seeing brief upticks in hospitalizations during the rainy season. Specifically, for epidemiological week 29, from July 19 to 25, a total of 126 confirmed cases were reported, representing a 34.04% increase compared to the previous seven days when 94 cases were registered. This represents a 55.56% increase compared to the previous week. “The Ministry of Health maintains ongoing epidemiological surveillance and reiterates its call for the public’s shared responsibility to reduce the transmission of these viruses and protect everyone’s health,” they stated in a press release.
