Angus Council has begun the search for care providers to deliver a £248 million programme to support the area’s elderly and vulnerable to live securely in their own homes. The local authority and Angus Health and Social Care Partnership have completed a major review of provision for supported elderly and adults with learning disabilities, mental health and substance misuse issues. From that point the provision of personal care, housing support and home-based respite services will fall under part of the Scottish Government’s self-directed support (SDS) arrangements. The Option 3 programme means a council or health and social care partnership organises, commissions and pays for social care and support services on the resident’s behalf. Angus contracts to run for four yearsThe Angus Council notice states: “This is a procurement exercise to establish a new framework, commencing April 1 2027.”
