A Perth nail salon boss, who left a hitchhiking passenger with “life changing” injuries after he crashed while sleeping behind the wheel near Stirling, has been jailed. Long Thang Nguyen’s Mercedes careered down an embankment after leaving the M9 in the early hours of January 22 2023. A man travelling in the back seat of the vehicle – one of two Vietnamese hitchhikers Nguyen said he picked up just minutes earlier – was seriously injured. At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court Nguyen was told, despite arguments put forward by his solicitor, a custodial sentence was appropriate. During the interview he said he worked at a nail salon called Perth Nail Bar.
