In a rural patch of London, north of Heathrow Airport, is this public park, once named after a Tudor composer, and a rare patch of public land in the area. The Sipson that gives Sipson Meadow its name is the nearby village, and even though we’re close to Heathrow, most of the land around here is positively rural in nature. And that brings us to Sipson Meadow, which was once part of a fruit farm that made jam but was turned into a gravel pit in the 1970s. Unusually, it wasn’t returned to agriculture but opened as a public park. Although the school is still named after the composer, the park was renamed Sipson Meadow again in 2024.
