— The Casper City Council is expanding the city’s cemetery capacity with a move to acquire the Shepherd of the Hills Church columbarium. The council’s decision authorizes a vacation and replat to create the Shepherd of the Hills Addition, located along South Poplar Street. Once the transfer is complete, the city will own and manage the columbarium as part of its cemetery system. “We reached out to the city about turning it into a park or some other use for the city to take care of it, and came up with the idea for a columbarium park.” The Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church’s columbarium will be the basis of a planned city columbarium park, after a rezoning request was recently greenlit by the Casper Planning and Zoning Commission.
