More than 330,000 gallons of fermented fish sauce are finally being removed from an abandoned factory in eastern Canada, bringing an end to a smell that has hung over one small town for more than 20 years.

Due to the unusual nature of the waste, it’s not as simple as just removing the tanks or pumping away the sauce.
The process is set to take months, but residents of St. Mary’s will be delighted that the smell that’s lingered for the last 20 years is finally going away.
