(Shingle Fire/Contributed photo)MITCHELL — The Shingle Fire grew by less than 200 acres overnight as containment ticked up to 33%, according to a Tuesday, Aug. 4 update by fire managers. The 70,551-acre, lightning-caused Shingle Fire was started on July 23 and is burning about 14 miles southeast of Mitchell. Firefighters are strengthening dozer line between Day Creek and Home Sweet Home Spring, connecting it to existing black fire line. Firefighters are actively working to identify and address any hot spot fires, using heavy equipment and helicopter infrared support along the fire’s southern edge. The lookout at Wolf Mountain has been integral to identifying spot fires along the southern flank.
