Evanston received $50,000 from Bloomberg Philanthropies for a Youth Climate Action Fund that will award grants to selected environmental projects across the city, joining 300 municipalities around the globe this year. The money will be distributed in smaller grants to at least eight accepted climate action projects, ranging from recycling initiatives and community gardens to park cleanups and local infrastructure enhancements. Evanston residents ages 15-24 with ideas for local climate initiatives can apply for the grants, with the first round of applications due Wednesday and the second due on Aug. 27.
