Bonny Reservoir Adaptive Grazing Demonstration Project Enters Implementation Phase Across Nearly 5,000 AcresWRAY, Colo. — After nearly four years of planning, collaboration, grant development, and projectcoordination, the Bonny Reservoir Adaptive Grazing Demonstration Project has officially entered theimplementation phase. Following the draining of Bonny Reservoir in 2011 to meet the requirements of the Republican River Compact, the former reservoir footprint and surrounding rangelands experienced dramatic changes. Local producer and project cooperator, Darrell Smith, has moved cattle onto the property, officially beginning the adaptive grazing demonstration. Recognizing the growing conservation challenges across the Bonny landscape, the Yuma County Conservation District brought together producers, agencies, conservation organizations, and funding partners to develop the Bonny Reservoir Adaptive Grazing Demonstration Project.
