By Merlin Delcid, Michael Rios, CNN(CNN) — The days-long eruption of Guatemala’s Fuego volcano, which has forced the evacuation of hundreds of people from nearby towns, is reducing in intensity but still remains dangerous, authorities said Wednesday. The Fuego volcano, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) southwest of the capital Guatemala City, has been spewing lava and plumes of ash since Monday. “Activity at the Fuego volcano continues in a critical explosive phase,” Rojas said Tuesday at a press conference. More than 29,000 people have been affected by the ashfall, according Conred. The Fuego volcano is one of the most active in Central America.
