The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $870 million for airport infrastructure projects across the United States, spanning projects such as a new access road at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and terminal repairs at Miami International Airport (MIA). The FAA also highlighted several smaller projects, including $9.1 million to rehabilitate passenger boarding bridges and rebuild airport facilities at Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio. Juneau International Airport in Alaska will receive $4.2 million to replace snow removal equipment, while Charleston International Airport in South Carolina will receive $3.7 million for a terminal expansion. The grants come through the FAA’s Airport Infrastructure Grants program, which can pay for runway and taxiway work, terminal improvements, baggage systems, airport roads, planning and other safety-related projects. The program was created under the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which set aside $15 billion for airport infrastructure over five years.
