Acclaimed Khasi filmmaker Pradip Kurbah has been selected as a member of the Main Competition Jury for the 22nd edition of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, one of Southeast Asia’s leading platforms for independent cinema. His works have received recognition at renowned platforms such as the Moscow International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival and India’s National Film Awards. Festival organisers said Kurbah’s experience and perspective will add valuable regional and international insight to the jury. The Main Competition Jury includes Filipino filmmaker Sari Lluch Dalena, cultural critic Marian Pastor Roces, Indian filmmaker Pradip Kurbah, Italian producer Lorenzo “Lello” Carvelli, and cinematographer-filmmaker Dan Villegas. The diverse panel brings expertise from filmmaking, criticism, cultural work and international festival programming, and will be responsible for selecting winners at this year’s Cinemalaya festival.
