British Solar Assets Change HandsAccording to a Telegraph report published on 3 August 2026, Shell has signed an agreement to sell its European onshore renewables arm to the French energy company TotalEnergies. Shell had at one stage been developing four British solar farms with planned capacity of 100 megawatts. TotalEnergies says it is developing around 600 MW of solar projects in Britain alongside its offshore-wind interests. For the public, the more straightforward description is this: when it comes to owning British solar farms and large Scottish floating-wind projects, Shell is shrinking its footprint while other companies take over the work.
