The following year, a quite separate set of whistleblower allegations concerning Sakhalin II was cited in evidence submitted by WWF to a House of Commons committee. The Financial Times also reported that a Shell spokesman confirmed the email was genuine, while declining to discuss it further. Those matters formed the context in which the whistleblower allegations were placed before the committee. That dispute did not prove the separate whistleblower allegations in the WWF evidence.
