The Associated Press has called the Michigan Democratic Governor Primary for Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Benson is an attorney who has served as Secretary of State since 2019 and runs the state’s election processes and motor vehicle departments. RELATED: Full Michigan Primary ResultsBenson will face off against the winner of the GOP primary in the General Election on November 1. Whoever wins the general election will take over for Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who has served up to her limit of two terms. Before becoming governor, she served in the House of Representatives and the State Senate.
