Back in April, Building Inspector Raymond Matthews made a request of the city council – hire a permit clerk after the Building Office moves to the new City Hall. In the meeting Matthews stated that benefits of creating a permit clerk position. The committee brought up that the city is years behind in creating zoning maps, suggesting that a new permit clerk would be a good choice for that task. Committee members agreed to clarify the permit clerk’s job description and salary in hopes the city council can approve the position at their August 11th meeting. If there is no opposition, the city will take applications and look to hire a permit clerk by October 1st.
