Myspace, the social media platform that was popular in the 2000s before it basically disappeared from the internet (along with most of its data), may return sometime soon, according to the company’s new owners.
In a new documentary about the social media platform — which peaked in 2008 with more than 75 million U.S. users before Facebook entered the scene — its current owners say they’d like to reintroduce Myspace.
In 2016, Time Inc. acquired the company (including Myspace), and two years later, Meredith Corporation bought Time Inc.
We are stewards of the Myspace brand at this point, and we are going to relaunch Myspace.
And if that one doesn’t work, we’ll do it again,” Tim Vanderhook said.
