The latter could happen in future episodes of the TV series.House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 7 features a major dragon twist, and Game of Thrones gave it away 13 years earlier. That would be the return of Aegon Targaryen's dragon, Sunfyre, who is thought to be dead until the end of "The Dragon in the Winter." Game of Thrones makes Rhaenyra's fate canon on-screen, too, with Joffrey basically giving away House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 7's Sunfyre twist in Season 3. The Daeron we meet in House of the Dragon Season 3 certainly isn't cruel enough to consider this, even if the Game of Thrones spin-off gave him Aegon's story.
