MDA placed the order, designated Modeling and Simulation Vistas – Threat and Advanced Simulation Development, or MSV-TASD, through the Air Force’s Enterprise-Wide Agile Acquisition Contract. Northrop said the work involves predicting and simulating potential attack scenarios so capabilities can be developed ahead of emerging threats. The task order follows the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract, under which Northrop said it delivered simulation tools to MDA for close to a decade. MDA awarded Northrop a potential five-year, $475 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract in March 2018 to develop advanced discrimination algorithms for the Ballistic Missile Defense System and to sustain the tools used to model BMDS capabilities. A $244.7 million modification followed in May 2023, extending simulation and modeling work through March 4, 2026.
