MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Two Republicans are competing for the chance to challenge Democratic incumbent Becca Balint for Vermont’s lone U.S. House seat this November. Mark Coester and Gerald Malloy are vying for the Republican nomination ahead of the Aug. 11 primary. “There’s a lot of people who are just ignored in this state, completely,” Coester said. “The three folks in Washington, D.C., we have right now, all they’re doing is complaining,” Malloy said. But both Coester and Malloy say Vermont needs new leadership in Congress.
