The Government’s commitment to recognising academic excellence and promoting digital education is much appreciated. However, significant challenges remain in digital education and ICT infrastructure. A Smart Classroom is far more than a room equipped with a projector or an interactive display. A laptop benefits one student for a limited period, whereas a Smart Classroom benefits every student who studies in that school for many years. It would also strengthen Meghalaya’s digital education ecosystem and contribute significantly towards sustaining the state’s improving performance under the PGI framework.
