I had paddled the Rapid River several times prior to the tests but had no experience on the Magalloway. Each morning, we paddled the demanding Rapid River from the lodge and were picked up and transported to the Magalloway. My recollection is our group of canoe and kayak testers recommended 600 and 900 cubic feet per second (CFS) releases but found 1200 CFS too high. Maybe it’s my age, but I concluded that our original FERC recommendation was correct; 1200 CFS is too high for hard boats.
