Green Day is opening up about the real-life experiences that inspired its upcoming comedy film Nimrods, revealing that much of its heart comes directly from the band's own journey. Inspired by Green Day's Real-Life AdventuresNimrods follows a fictional group of young musicians chasing their dreams, and Green Day said many of the scenarios are rooted in experiences the band actually lived through before achieving mainstream success. Bassist Dirnt shared, “There’s a lot of Easter eggs throughout the whole record of things that parallel things that happened to us when we were touring in a van back in the day.” But if you’re not a fan, there’s still interesting moments regardless of where it came from or not… there’s a lot of our lives in there.” More Than a ComedyWhile Nimrods is packed with humor, Green Day believes audiences will also connect with its themes of perseverance.
