A group named Second City Jazz performs at a benefit to raise money for Building Peaceful Bridges, which works with more than 60 refugees and newcomers seeking protection in the Chicago area. The group is raising money to replace SNAP benefits that have been drastically reduced by federal government. “Food access has become a major concern for our families,” said Lexy Gore, of the Glenview-based nonprofit. That’s Chris Nemeth on bass, Brian Koch on drums, Doug Morrison on piano and Dave Jarvis on tenor sax. They volunteered to play for more than 100 people at the Unitarian Church event, which raised more than $12,000.
