Leong served on the board of the Lakeville Estates Civic Association and was also a member of the New Hyde Park Senior Club, Pickleball Group and Tai Chi Group.
Cutrone said that when he became president of the civic association more than a decade ago, it was Leong who encouraged merging the North Lakeville and Lakeville Civic Associations, the first of many mergers that would ultimately create the Lakeville Estates Civic Association known today.
He said the New Hyde Park civic was the first to join, roughly six years ago, followed by the Oaks Civic Association.
Most of the civics that have since joined the Lakeville Estates Civic Association are still listed as independent associations with the Nassau County Civic Association, but have long since merged with other civics or have dissolved completely, Cutrone said.
“The Oaks Civic Association [had] no more members.
