TESCOM chairman urges teaching unions to promote professionalism

By Popoola Jamiu, AbeokutaThe Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, has urged teaching unions in the state to encourage their members to complete their registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) as part of efforts to professionalise and standardise the teaching profession.
Describing teaching as a noble and long-established profession, the TESCOM chairman said it should be properly regulated, recognised and accorded its rightful place among other professional careers.
“The teaching profession must be professionalised like accounting, law, engineering and medicine.
He also urged the unions to prioritise the capacity development of their members to enhance productivity and improve learning outcomes in public secondary schools across the state.
